A TERRIFIC COOK

Do you see how slim I’m? It’s not on purpose and it’s not my nature either: there’s a good reason for me keeping in shape: Mom. She’s a disaster in the kitchen, and besides being unable to fry an egg properly, she always causes accidents. I can’t keep track of all the times the kitchen was on fire (4? 5?) because of something weird she decided to do despite of our advice to keep out of the kitchen – especially the stove.

She doesn’t pay attention to our advice and we have to eat what she prepares – or at least we eat what we can- so we live constantly on an undesired diet.

The last time she tried to prepare roast beef the result was a burning kitchen. Dad could barely save the family and extinguish the fire. When she goes to the kitchen we start fearing for our lives (and stomachs) and thinking of a sickness we’ll fake in order to avoid the “result”.

Despite the bad cook we have at home, our house is always full of guests for lunch and dinner. I suspect they come just to have fun watching the disasters. And – of course – they want to be the first to tell our friends what her latest calamity was like.

There are many wonderful cities in the world that I’d like to see. However, my long time dream is to visit the British capital. In my opinion, London is one of the most diverse and interesting cities on our planet. I have a to-do list for this place, which consists of six important points. First of all I’d like to see Piccadilly Circus. They say it is especially picturesque in the evenings, thanks to the bright neon signs. It has become a tradition to make a date next to the Fountain of Eros which is situated in the center of the square. The second object I want to see is the London Eye. It’s one of the largest and most innovative ferries wheels in the world. If I’m lucky and the weather is fine I can see many of London sights from the top of it. The third place that I want to visit is the wax museum of Madame Tussaud. It’s a legendary place where you can see a great number of celebrity wax figures. The fourth attraction that I’d like to see in London is the Natural History Museum, especially its Dinosaurs gallery. The fifth thing I want to do in London is to spend a day in a youth hostel. They say the atmosphere in such youth places is great. I hope to meet lots of international students there and to make new friends. The sixth point on my list is the boat trip on the River Thames. I’m sure the city views during this trip will be fantastic. In other words, London is my passion. I’d be very happy if my dream came true.


В мире множество замечательных городов, которые я хотел бы осмотреть. Однако моя давняя мечта посетить британскую столицу. На мой взгляд, Лондон один из самых многоликих и интересных городов на нашей планете. Для этого места я приготовил список дел, состоящий из шести важных пунктов. Прежде всего, я хотел бы увидеть Пикадилли. Говорят, что там особенно живописно по вечерам, благодаря ярким неоновым вывескам. Назначать свидание рядом с фонтаном Эроса, который находится в самом центре площади, давно стало традицией. Второй объект, который я хотел бы увидеть, это Лондонский глаз. Это одно из крупнейших и самых инновационных колес обозрения в мире. Если мне повезет, и погода будет хорошей, я смогу увидеть многие лондонские достопримечательности сверху. Третье место, где я хочу побывать, это музей восковых фигур мадам Тюссо. Это легендарное место, где можно увидеть большое количество восковых фигур знаменитостей. Четвертая достопримечательность, которую я хотел бы увидеть в Лондоне, это Музей естественной истории, в особенности его Галерея динозавров. Под номером пять я хотел бы провести день в каком-нибудь молодежном общежитии Лондона. Говорят, что атмосфера в таких молодежных местах замечательная. Я надеюсь познакомиться там с множеством иностранных студентов и завести новых друзей. Шестой пункт в моем списке - прогулка на катере по Темзе. Я уверен, что виды на город во время такой экскурсии будут фантастическими. Иначе говоря, Лондон - это моя страсть. Я был бы очень рад, если бы моя мечта сбылась.
